Welcome to Mrs. Roberts Third Grade Class  2007-2008

My name is Mrs. Lesley (Pleasant) Roberts and this is my 7th year teaching at Campbell. I have spent the last 3 years teaching primarily language arts and social studies at the third grade level. This year, we will not be transitioning between classes. We will, instead, be maintaining self-contained classrooms. I am pleased to have your child in my class this year and I am also very excited about the opportunity to get to know you, as well. I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year.

As you know, this year is a critical one, in terms of TAKS assessment. Third grade students are required to pass the reading TAKS test with a score of 70 or higher. They will also be taking a math TAKS assessment. While they are not required to pass for promotion, it remains important that they do their best throughout the year. We will need your help to reinforce reading, comprehension and math practice at home.

A second item that you will notice is the increased amount of homework. I will send reading homework home almost everyday, except for holidays, testing days and Fridays. As you can see, there should not be a day when your child does not have homework. This is to stress how important math and reading homework is. Homework is a reflection of the lessons learned in class and is meant to practice those lessons.

In addition, we will be asking for volunteers to be room parents, trip chaperones and parent assistants. If you would be interested in helping, please let me know.
